Struggling through four years of college and fighting through another couple of years in law school must have you beyond dreaming of obtaining a job at one of the top law firms that are out there today. Remembering back to the torturous nights of staying awake, studying for the LSAT’s so that you could interview for a law firm may send chills down your spine just thinking about it. If you haven’t begun the process of getting yourself ready to be part of one of the top law firms, you better get on your way by going through the checklist provided below. Upon following these steps you will see yourself getting closer and closer to that position you have always dreamed of at a big law firm.
1. Of course you cannot forego getting your undergrad degree before you even make an attempt at applying to any of the top law firms across the nation. Any law firm as a matter of fact considers your college education a given. Most people attending college have no inkling of what their aspirations are. You have your dreams set so be sure to work your best and maintain as high of a GPA as you can. A law firm will find it very appealing if you graduate with any honors as well. Top law firms will consider that you have what it takes to be the best you can be. Try to participate in a few other activities outside of schoolwork to show that you are a well-rounded person with many aspirations.
2. Finishing off your college education with ah undergraduate degree will have you on the next step of passing your LSAT’s. If you want to make it into any top law firms you must be sure to achieve a high school on your LSAT. The law firm you apply to will also consider this a prerequisite.
3. After achieving an immaculate score on your LSAT, you will need to apply to a law school. If you want to be part of one of the top law firms you should probably be thinking of applying to the top law school near you. The law firm you apply to will be wondering which school you chose to attend and why. Top law firms may not even consider you if you haven’t been accepted to a decent law school. Such a law firm may give you a chance to prove yourself worthy during an interview, but even the likelihood of that is very small. Once again it is crucial for you to maintain a high GPA, just as you did in college. Top law firms are aware that it is more difficult to obtain as high of a GPA in law school. The law firm will take this into consideration but it is no excuse.
4. Upon finally completing the previous three steps you are ready to apply for the top law firms you are reaching for. The top law firms on your list should be in moderation to the scale of how well you have done on steps 1-3. Be sure to include a law firm that you know for sure you will make just in case. For all you know you might even change your mind and go for a law firm you hadn’t even been considering.
